Public Defender Met with the Members of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT)

On September 17, 2018, Nino Lomjaria, Public Defender of Georgia and Giorgi Burjanadze, Deputy Public Defender met with the members of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT).

During the meeting activities of the Public Defender toward prevention of ill-treatment, main challenges facing the penitentiary system, cooperation with non-governmental organizations and other ongoing issues, interesting for the members of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture, were discussed.

Office of the Public Defender of Georgia and its National Preventive Mechanism will actively continue to reveal cases of ill-treatment and to respond to them, as well as effective cooperation with international organizations.
