Public Defender's Office Hosts International Human Rights Expert
International human rights expert John Wadhamvisited the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia on September 24-28, 2018. The Public Defender’s Office will develop guidelines and instruments for monitoring the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities with the assistance of the expert.
The Public Defender of Georgia has been fulfilling the function of an independent national mechanism of promoting, protecting and monitoring the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and supervising the implementation of this document in the country since 2015.
The international expert held meetings with representatives of the Public Defender's Office, the Advisory Council of the Public Defender and representatives of the monitoring group.
The expert support was carried out within the framework of a joint project of the European Union and the United Nations – “Human Rights for All”.
