Public Defender Hosts Civil Society Representatives in Ambrolauri
On July 9, 2025, the Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, hosted civil society representatives in his newly opened office in Ambrolauri.
The Public Defender and representatives of his office introduced the meeting participants to the challenges facing human rights and freedoms in Georgia. Levan Ioseliani spoke about the main findings and recommendations of the Public Defender’s parliamentary report, including the recommendations reflected in the report as a result of studying the materials of the Shovi tragedy investigation, the challenges facing women and domestic violence, freedom of expression and assembly, freedom of association, and other topical issues.
The Public Defender emphasized the importance of cooperation with the civil sector and expressed hope that, thanks to the newly opened regional office, cooperation with non-governmental organizations operating in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti would be further deepened for the purpose of effective protection of human rights in the region.
