Taking into account the existing problems in the field of protection of human rights defenders, the Public Defender of Georgia made a decision to compile this explanatory methodological document. It explains the international standard of the concept of human rights defenders, the essence of their activities and the obligations imposed on the State in this direction; highlights the role and functions of national human rights institutions, as well as the measures that the Public Defender's Office intends to take to create a safe and supportive environment for human rights defenders.
