Private Company Implements Public Defender’s General Proposal on Combating Discrimination

The Public Defender of Georgia welcomes the fact that a private company has implemented the general proposal[1] issued by the Office on combating discrimination in labour relations.

In accordance with the Public Defender’s proposal, the respondent developed and approved a special standard/internal regulation that regulates the procedure for announcing and conducting competitions in labour relations, the internal mechanism for protecting rights, the process of complaints, feedback and appeals.

The Public Defender positively assesses the measures taken and believes that such changes will ensure increased transparency and strengthening equality in labour relations.

The Public Defender once again points out that employers should develop mechanisms and internal policies properly regulating career development, promotion, evaluation in competitive processes and the authority of decision-makers.

The Public Defender will continue to actively supervise the full implementation of the principle of prohibition of labour discrimination at the national level.
