Public Defender's Office Holds Trainings in Public Schools and Higher Education Institutions on Justice Issues

From November 20 to November 25, 2025, employees of the Criminal Justice Department of the Public Defender's Office held another round of trainings in public schools and higher education institutions to raise awareness of justice issues.

This time, trainings were conducted for 230 students from 8 public schools in the Shida Kartli region, as well as 32 students from Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University.

Similar to previous trainings, the topics of the meetings were the rights of minors in the judiciary, ill-treatment and its prevention, negative and positive obligations of the State, police measures and individual rights within the framework of their implementation, penitentiary system, the mandate of the Public Defender and the activities of the Office to improve the protection of human rights and freedoms in Georgia.

It is noteworthy that in the fall of 2025, employees of the Criminal Justice Department conducted trainings for a total of 1,329 students from 38 public schools in different regions of Georgia, as well as for 194 students from 7 higher education institutions.

The Public Defender's Office has been actively organizing meetings with schoolchildren and students for years to raise awareness. Their involvement and high interest indicate the need for similar meetings. The Public Defender's Office thanks the administrations of public schools and universities for their effective cooperation. The Office will continue its activities in this direction in the future too.
